FUTURE BEAUTY: 30 YEARS OF JAPANESE FASHION

Barbican Art Gallery, 2011 in collaboration with the Kyoto Costume Institute

A survey of avant-garde Japanese fashion drawn from the renowned collection of the Kyoto Costume Institute (KCI) and from Japanese fashion houses such as Comme des Garçons, Yohji Yamamoto, Issey Miyake, Jun Takahashi (Undercover) and others.

I worked with Akiko Fukai, director of the KCI, to conceive and stage the exhibition, which was designed by Sou Fujimoto. Rie Nii (of KCI) and I edited the accompanying publication designed by JOhn Morgan Studio - see Books section.

The exhibition toured to Haus der Kunst in Munich after its London presentation.

Thank you to Barbican Art Gallery for installation photographs by Lyndon Douglas
