CURATOR & CONSULTANT
Catherine is an independent curator, consultant and writer based in London. She has over 25 years of experience working in museums, galleries and public sector arts organisations in the UK and abroad. She was inaugural Chief Curator of V&A East, between 2015 and 2023, conceiving and delivering the two-site project for the V&A. She was Director of Exhibitions and Programmes at ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, Denmark; curator at Barbican Art Gallery, London and for the British Council. Her major exhibitions include The World of Charles & Ray Eames; Bauhaus: Art as Life; and Junya Ishigami: Architecture as Air. Catherine started her career working independently for public and commercial clients, government and local authorities, as well as architecture and design studios.
Catherine is the inaugural Charles & Ray Eames Foundation Research Fellow and is working on new research with the newly formed Foundation for the next three years. This research supoorts her Doctoral Project in the School of Architecture at the Royal College of Art. She is currently on the Board of S1 Artspace in Sheffield and an advisor to The Cosmic House and Jencks Foundation; she is a former trustee of the Architecture Foundation, London, and the Stanley Picker Gallery and Dorich House Museum. She has lectured and taught internationally and has contributed to design juries in the UK and Switzerland. In 2018 Catherine was made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
